Should You Purchase Gifts In Bulk? Yay or Nay?

GiftsInBulk
I remember a vivid conversation my mom and I had a while ago with one of her co-workers, when she was over for some coffee and dessert. We were discussing busy “birthday months” and she giggled and sipped her coffee saying “I take care of all my gifts in January”. My mom and I looked at her oddly and said “How?” She then began to share her “secret” of shopping for gifts in bulk.

So what exactly is it? Are there any pros and cons to this concept?

Daniella told us that she would put together a list in January of friends, family members etc. that she would purchase a birthday gift for. She would proceed to write down a list of items that are generic, personal and that she knew they’d like. She would then give herself an overall budget and purchase all of these gifts within a couple of weeks’ time frame. Or as she said “Sometimes I try to do it all in one day”. Ambitious!

I asked her what kind of things could she possibly purchase in bulk that would be able to accommodate such different groups of people. She simply replied. “I keep everyone in mind, I make sure there is something for everyone”.

I wanted to know more as I was eager to know how this process worked and asked her to give me a rough list of things she would typically buy during her shopping adventures.

  • Lots of Gift Cards, LCBO, malls, movie theatres and restaurants
  • Beauty gift sets from Bath and Body Works and The Body Shop, I’ll also purchase individual items such as body and hand lotions or soaps
  • Candles (different sizes and scents)
  • Bottles of Red Wine (usually about a case of 12 and I store them in my cold storage room)
  • Décor items (I typically make a trip to Homesense or Winners and get a couple of home décor items that I know my friends would like. They love my taste and I know what stuff they enjoy)
  • Household items (While I’m there, I usually pick up some nice items for the kitchen too, a lot of my friends and my sister’s love to cook and enjoy their kitchen space, so I get things I know they will like and use)

For the most part, nonspecific viagra cialis generico http://raindogscine.com/nuevos-proyectos-de-raindogs-cine-premiados/ 100mg is termed as the best pill is because the pill has the main component inside it which is Sildenafil citrate as well as dapoxetine. order viagra viagra To provide relaxed body condition after the myocardial infarction the drug is available in the measure of 1mg/ml. It is a terrible medical situation affecting millions of males generic viagra wholesale today. Complains like bad boss, a levitra shop crazy colleague or just a terrible place to work.
When I was chatting with some friends, most said purchasing gifts in bulk just doesn’t feel “personalized”, “it feels as though no thought is put into it.” My rebuttal was simple. If she is thinking of these people while purchasing the items- of course there is thought being put into it. She just chooses to purchase it all at once.

Daniella also made a point to say “You also never know when a last minute birthday plan is made and you need to put something together or when your schedule just gets hectic and busy. I like to be prepared and everybody loves what I get them.”

So ladies and gents, what are your thoughts on this? Will you become a bulk shopper or are you already one?

YES! I think this is a great idea and agree that this still counts as a personalized gift. I just started doing this (in very small steps). I don’t buy my gifts all at once but if I am out and see something that reminds me of someone- I buy it and put it in my “gift trunk” and when the time comes (birthdays, christmas) I always have something prepared. I also have a very busy lifestyle and sometimes “life” happens which doesn’t allow you to plan for it so I liked to be prepared. For example, If a friend is having a bad day and needs a pick-me-up, I just pick some from the gift trunk and I know it will put a smile on their face.

Love this idea and will be implementing this little by little, every month! Great post, great share!
