Frames and Walls

I am absolutely loving the look of filling a wall with an abundance of frames, it has essentially inspired one of my visions for my bathroom makeover (part 1: inspiration board being posted soon). With that being said, I took it upon myself to venture into the world of Pinterest and examine the “art” of frames on walls. Are there are any rules to follow? Any particular frames that I should be purchasing and am I only limited to frames?

Of course, I found my answer and I have taken it upon myself to create some pointers for your future wall of frames extravaganza! Enjoy : )

Size does matter

Examine the size of your wall. You don’t want to a huge amount of bulky (8×10) frames on a wall that is only 9 feet tall and 5 feet wide. Keep in mind your wall size in comparison to your frames.

Dominate but don’t isolate

Choose a frame size that will be the dominate piece you will have frequently on the wall, but don’t fill the wall with only one size. Change the way you hang the frame, choose an alternative colour and pick different sizes so you can play with eye flow. Do 40% of your frames one style and the rest can be a tossup.

For me personally I think this method looks best when you focus on a colour scheme. I enjoy black and white frames and perhaps dipping into the grey scale. If you have an accent colour in the room, maybe paint a frame or two in that colour. Don’t overwhelm the wall with multiple frame colours, simple is better.
