Many of us play the “what if” game when it comes to venturing out into something new or taking the plunge career wise. “What if I fail?”, “What if the business doesn’t succeed?”, “What if nobody buys the service or product?”  The ‘what ifs’ are often negative, filled with doubt and worry. They are barely motivating, positive and goal oriented.

A girlfriend of mine shared some excellent advice on how she was able to climb through her career goals and determine her happiness at her workplace. “Write it all out”. She explained how writing her near and future goals, creating timelines and pro and con lists really aided her in her career growth. I was stunned about the pros and cons list as it never appealed to be important to me. Little did I know I was wrong and it REALLY helps you with perspective and determining what makes you happy.

3. Ask For Advice, Embrace Feedback and Constructive Criticism
Knowledge is power and failure leads to success. Reach out to others for advice or for their opinions. I’m not saying to share all of your ideas and career moves with people, but perhaps pitch them to a trusted person. Accept constructive criticism and take back what others are saying about you and your actions. Perhaps it will benefit you in the end.
