For a large chunk of my day, 9 hours to be exact- I’m in my office space away from home, so it’s no doubt that slowly but surely, your space starts developing a personality of its own.

It’s hard to turn a cubicle or desk space at work into something extremely personable especially when most of them all look the same and rules and restrictions may apply. However, there are small ways to add personality and a little “spice”. Check out our ideas below.

1. A plant. Nothing like nature to open up your space. Choose a small to medium size plant that is easy to maintain and has a long life span. I would of course say flowers but those can get messy and will die faster. But if you must, opt for an orchid! I wouldn’t choose a faux plant, although they may be nice to look at, all they do is collect dust.

2. A daily calendar. Whether it’s inspirational, factual or funny. I find that these daily calendars are fun and get you to look forward to something new each day.

3. Spice up your stationary. Our office provides all of our office supplies, however, there are little nic nacks here and there that I purchase on my own. 8. Picture frame or hanger. I love this gold picture hanger. It’s great to display multiple photos and still has a nice structure and sleek look. I think photos are great to have at work and on your desk. Nothing like sharing your space and seeing the people you love right there.

I cannot wait for the day that I can dedicate one large room in my home to my office space, it is possibly one of my favourite rooms when I think of the whole concept of a home. I simply love it due to the creativity that can stream from within. We are in a space that allows us to focus, educate, attain knowledge and be creative. It’s a space all our own.

Wall decor lucky for us has endless options in an office space. We can seriously go to town with pre-made shelving units, bulletin boards, clocks, art pieces or opt for do it yourself pieces.

Knick knacks and stationary items are one my favourite things to shop for when it comes to my home and work office. I love adorable agendas/planners that have stunning covers and minor detailing. I could never just purchase a boring planner- it wouldn’t excite me to write in it. I also feel like pens, folders, pen holders, planning boards – all these are objects that we can have fun with and express a little bit of our inner child.
