Happy International Women’s Day to all you beautiful and strong women out there. We are all unique in our own way and each and every one of us has a purpose and something to contribute to the universe. I am so lucky to work alongside knowledgeable and passionate women within the advertising world- an industry that was once driven by men. I am also so grateful to have such a strong and motivated group of family and friends who teach me something new every day. Ever since I could remember, I’ve always had an admiration for birthdays. It’s actually something I look forward to more than any holiday. Why not celebrate another year of life with the people you love and care for? As kids, the moms in my family always went out of their way to ensure we had a birthday party. It didn’t matter if it was a small family gathering at home or if it was a more upscale event. They always went out of their way to make us feel special. I’m fortunate enough to share my special day with my cousin Melaney. We are star sisters who were born on the exact same day, exactly 12 hours a part. We were even delivered by the same doctor, in the same hospital, in the same room! Hah. It’s like every time I tell this story, I get excited! Goosebumps kick in and I really think- that is what I call great timing.

As a natural planner, birthdays are right up my ally. I was lucky to have my 25^th birthday and champagne birthday (26^th) back to back. Since my birthday falls in the summer, I have more variety when it comes to options and party planning.

My favourite birthday that I have celebrated to date was hands down my 26^th birthday. It was (no joke) a 4 day celebration filled with so much love, adventure and activities. Melaney was pregnant during our 26^th birthday so we couldn’t skydive off a plane together. Who am I kidding? I would never skydive, but our options were more limited.

I had a ladies night out on Thursday night at my favourite Brazilian bar. A close group of us met at my house prior to going and indulged on some delicious sangria. On the day of my actual birthday, I treated myself to some henna art and G took me out for a delicious dinner at my favourite restaurant. I think it is safe to say that Aggie has officially earned herself the title as “Queen of Makeup Giving”. For Christmas she recently gifted me a bunch of NYX lip glosses among other fabulous items and I thought they would be some great products to review.

I’ve been a fan of NYX lip creams and glosses and since they recently opened their first free standing store in Mississauga- we now have the opportunity to get our hands on more NYX goodies- woohoo!

Milan is the only product that has a matte finish as it is the only product that is a lip cream, the rest are intense lip glosses which have an obvious gloss finish.

First on our list is the gorgeous Milan lip cream. It is such a soft subtle pink. I love the finish and formula. They are not dry or sticky. The formula and texture in my opinion are just perfect as they are extremely moisturizing for a matte lip cream. It is more pink than brown compared to what it looks like on the tube.

A gorgeous vibrant pink, the intense butter gloss in funnel delight is truly what it’s name claims to be- intense and a delight. These glosses are really a two in one. The colour pay off is beyond any gloss I have ever worn and there is absolutely no need for additional gloss. I foresee this being one of my favourite summer glosses 😉

I love the colour though and next time I’ll also use a lip liner as this bleeds. Perhaps that will help the application in the future.
