Arm Candy

My boyfriend sometimes pokes fun at me when he sees me wearing an arm/wrist full of bracelets. He jokingly asks if i’ll be selling them on the streets and for how much?- har har G. I just remind him that he wouldn’t understand the love some of us women have for arm candy, making a statement and just wanting to dump our entire accessory bin onto one wrist and be on our way.

Luckily for us, the accessory world has been friendly and flexible in terms of rules. Everything goes. Danity can be mixed with statement pieces, gold and silver now apparently can live in harmony on one wrist, textures are mingling together and colours of all shades are co-exisiting. So it’s no wonder some of us look like we are about to tip over with the amount of bracelets we have on.

Below are some of my favourite arm candy combinations. Enjoy 🙂

I love this combo because of the different textures and style of each piece, they compliment each other by not being “matchy matchy” but because all the golds are similiar undertones- they work well together.

This combination is one of my favourites because of the colour combo and the variation of styles, execution of each piece and texture. Beautiful set for the spring/summer.

These two pieces are the reason I fell in love with rose gold. Both are elegant, flashy and the perfect size to pair together.

Boho Cuff: Spring
I’ve always had a soft spot for bohemian chic fashion and these colour combinations and pieces give off the exact boho vibe I am looking for.

And of course no post would be complete without my darkest, boldest and greatest cuffs ever. Again, no rules to why not pile them on?

Great day ladies and gents. I apologize in advance for my lengthy absence from the blog, as if birthday festivities and vacation preparation didn’t take most of my time up- I also ended up getting extremely ill last week (mild chest infection, which is always fun before going away). Thankfully, I am almost at 100% and I am able to finally get the mental and physical strength to put a post together.

Call me odd, but I almost feel guilty when I wear new clothes that I have purchased
for vacation before I actually get there. I feel as though I am per-maturely popping my
new outfit cherry which takes away from all the fun. I have purchased dozens upon dozens of new items for my vacation but most of them served purpose to be worn prior to me leaving. Simply because summer clothes was something my wardrobe was lacking tremendously.

I can’t wait to post some OOTD looks when I get back but for now I thought I would share a mini haul from H&M. I later went back and purchased more items but unfortunately forgot to photograph them before I packed them so these items will have to do.

Denim shorts- in my opinion, are one of the hardest pieces of clothing to shop for.
Jeans in general are tough to buy, imagine them in the form of shorts? (YIKES!) Lucky for me (or maybe us all) designers have taken notice of the perhaps small decline of interest for the daisy duke denim shorts and figured out that there are more styles, options and cuts that us women would prefer.

This year I have been successful in finding denim shorts that are not only comfortable, fit well but suit my body shape. Comfort for me is one of – if not- the most important factor when it comes to clothing.

Today I share some great cuts, styles and a few pointers when choosing denim shorts.

In spirit of the much anticipated “hottest weekend yet” for Toronto this coming Saturday / Sunday, I thought it was only appropriate to throw in the beach essentials post now. Although 90% of these are ‘no brainers’, I have made some recommendations, gave a little insight on why you need these items and what to consider. Enjoy the sunshine (hopefully, wherever you are)!

Hats: the larger the hat the better they say. A great way to protect your head from the strong UV rays. Straw hats are light and comfortable for the warm weather.
Head piece: I always have a bandana or hair wrap during the hotter months. It’s another method to help protect your head from the sun, soak up sweat and keep cool.
Body wrap: Another great heat protector for when you are done basking in the sun. Plus you never know when that breeze will hit, nice way to keep warm if need be.
Cotton bag tote: easier to clean, stronger, more durable. Choose a tote with multiple departments to tuck things away.
Beach towel: I always bring two. One to lay on and a smaller one to rest on. Purchase a large thick towel, one that is at least a good 5-10 inches longer than your height. Thicker towels will soak up more water and can provide additional cushion.

Lip balm: Lips are at risk of sun damage too! Apply lip balm to provide moisture and SPF protection.
Sun lotion/spray: Read the label and know your body. Choose a lotion that is right for your skin type. Also take into consideration temperature and the weather conditions of where you are.

Pretty in Pink

As much as I rave and glamourize the beauty and significance of shades, it doesn’t mean my world is all black and white. I truly adore pink in all shades, it’s one of my favourite colours (surprised? I know). It could simply be due to the fact that pink suits my skin tone or for the mere reason that it’s an upbeat colour.

As we get older into our adult years however, us women (and maybe men too) start developing odd fears. One of them is how we can look too girly or reflect a lack of maturity due to what we wear or how we do our hair and makeup. Pink being one of the unfortunate victims. Last time I checked, colours never had expiry dates on them ladies, wear away!

I put together some outfits which dominate in the wonderful hue of pink. I hope you enjoy :).

If I had to choose (please don’t make me!) navy blue and bold pink would have to be one of my favourite colour combos. They not only compliment each other but they also work well in letting the other look bold and powerful.
